The Table is Set is a four city tour served with a Coke. The Soul Food
Sessions tour began in Charlotte and has made stops in D.C., Baltimore and ends here in
Charleston at the Dewberry on October 16th. The mission is to break
stereotypes and enhance opportunities for African American chefs and increasing diversity in the culinary industry. They were able to take this on the
road thanks to a partnership with Coca-Cola Consolidated.
I was beyond excited to partner with them for this upcoming event. I got
a chance to recreate the New Orleans' Grillades with Green Strawberry
Relish and a Coca-Cola. It is the main course at the upcoming event. You
will get a chance to try it on the 16th at the Dewberry! I'm so excited
and looking forward to the experience and I hope to see you all there.
So let's talk about the dish- I truly felt like a chef creating this. I
have to admit it was a bit intimidating at first since it had so
many elements to it but I was up for the challenge. I went to my
local Harris Teeter to pick up the ingredients. Harris Teeter always
has what I need, when I need it. This is the most complicated dish
that I have ever made. I
feel like my cooking skills have leveled up because of it! I loved how
many different spices and seasonings went into creating this dish. I was
a little skeptical at first but once I took a taste, I was blown away.
It was bold and full flavored and not like anything I had
tasted before. The pairing with the Coke was spot on and defintely added
to the richness of the taste. The Green Strawberry Relish stole the
show. I can't
wait to taste and compare on the 16th at the Soul Food Sessions event.
So don't be afraid to try new dishes! You know I'm all about
experiencing new things. So come out and try this amazing dish on October 16, 2018 at the Dewberry for the Soul Food Sessions Tour served with a Coke.
