My long birthday weekend had come to an end. The final stop for celebrating was “Circa 1886” and it was like putting the bow on top of my birthday gift.

The location was so charming and so Charleston.
The service was amazing from the time we sat down till we left. The space is perfect for any occasion you have to celebrate.  It's gorgeous and welcoming.

This was a taste filled experience from start to finish! It started with a glass of Riesling, my favorite. I’d pick it everyday and twice on Sunday’s if I could.

The chef sent out a taster for us, Heirloom tomato soup topped with basil oil. It was so good it had us both wanting more. I decided to go with the Shrimp N’ Rice Grits for my appetizer. Then decided to order the Pickle Fried Flounder and for my sweet finish I went with the West African Puff Puff for dessert.

The appetizer was truly a flavor explosion. The flavor profile was everything. I could taste all the ingredients individually and when layered together it was like a spoonful of yumminess, cabbage leaves, goat cheese, smoked ham hock gravy and scallions.

The main course was equally as delicious. Flounder is my favorite and I’ve never had it Pickle Fried so I was ready to experience the taste. I was not disappointed. It was so good and thick and the pickle flavor just took it to another level. It was a plate full of goodness with Broccoli Mac n’ Cheese, Green Tomato Remoulade, collard Greens and Annatto Dust.

The dessert had me feeling like I was away on vacation. The West African Puff Puff was fun to eat and exciting to taste. A plate filled with Grilled Pineapple, Guava, Orange and Mango.

I always say the best experiences are the ones you share with friends. So glad to have had Narcisa here to experience it all with. Cheers to new food filled experiences. If you’re visiting the Holy City or of you love here put Circa 1886 on your list, it’s like being on a food tour but in one restaurant.
